WPA Configuration on Windows Mobile 2003

Due to the variety of configurations and proprietary settings of individual PDA's, it is difficult to create documentation that will cover all devices. The instructions below were created using a Dell Axim with Windows Mobile 2003, Version 4.21.1088. For assitance configuring a PDA, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at helpdesk@niu.edu or 815-753-8100.

Install Veri-Sign WPA Certificate

  1. Downlaod the Veri-Sign WPA Certificate 
  2. Save the certificate to the documents folder for your device

  3. Syncronize your device and your PC.
  4. Open up file explorer and find the certificate.

  5. Install the certificate.

Configure PDA to use WPA

  1. Click Start and then Settings
  2. Go to the Connections tab.

  3. Click on Network Cards
  4. Click on "Add New".
    Add new wireless network
  5. Call the network "NIUWireless" and under connect to, select "The Internet" .

  6. Go to the Network Key tab
  7. Make these selections
    Authentication: WPA, Data Encription: TKIP
    Authentication Configuration
  8. Go to the 802.1x tab
  9. For EAP type, select PEAP
    Network Authentication
  10. Press OK.
  11. Press and hold the stylus on NIUWireless, and then click connect
    PEAP selection
  12. Type in your id and password
    Connect to NIUwireless
  13. Fianlly, you are connected!!!!
