PPTP Configuration on Windows Mobile 5
FIRST, make sure that your wireless card is turned on.
The PPTP setup consists of three parts: connection profile setup, vpn setup, and exceptions setup.
- From the Start menu, select the Settings menu item.
- In the settings menu, go to the Connections tab, and click the Connections icon.
- In the connection settings, select the Advanced tab, and click the Select Networks button.

- In the “Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:” field, select My ISP. Under the "Program that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" field, click "New...".

- For the new connection profile enter NIU as the name.

- Select the VPN tab and click the "New..." button.
- Enter NIU in the name field and vpn1.ess.niu.edu in the host name/ip field. Select PPTP for the VPN type, and click the "Next" button.

- Enter your NIU user name, and click the "Finish" button.

- Click ok to exit the NIU profile settings.
- From the network connection setting screen, click the "Exceptions…" button and select “Add new URL…”.
- In the Work URL, enter *.*.

- Click ok to add the URL and click ok to exit out of the exceptions menu.

- Click ok to exit the network management screen.
Connecting
- While still at the connections screen, click the Select Networks button.
- Under the "Program that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:" field, select the NIU profile that you just created and click "Edit...".
- In the NIU Profile, select the VPN tab at the bottom of the screen.

- Tap and hold the stylus on the vpn connection that you created, and select "Connect".

- Enter you NIU user name and password and click the OK button.

- Wait for the connection to establish.

- Use the internet.
